Summer University : Why & who for?

  1. What is the Summer University?
  2. Each summer and for three years now, the Secours Catholique organizes a rendez-vous for young people from 18 to 35 years old. This year, it will take place in Saint Malo from the 24-27th August.

    It is an occasion for volunteers, employees, young in difficulties and foreign Caritas delegations to share their experiences in solidarity commitment; in a friendly and fraternal spirit.

  3. Who can participate?

  4. Anyone between 18 and 35 years old, who is sensitive to solidarity commitment, who wants to fight for the cause of the Secours Catholique and has an interest for the reflexion theme of the Summer University. This year, the theme is “Dare the intercultural and interreligious experience."

  5. Do I have to be a volunteer of the Secours Catholique or a member of a delegation?

  6. The event is open to everyone, volunteer or not of the Secours Catholique.

  7. Can I come alone?

  8. Of course! The other Young Caritas will be thrilled to welcome you and show you around the Summer University.

  9. How to register?

  10. The registration form will be online the 13th June.

The content
What is the theme of this year?
Each year, a new theme is discussed and shared between all participants. For this fourth edition, the Summer University wants us to go beyond our prejudices by thinking about the theme “Dare the intercultural and interreligious experience”.

What part takes the spiritual during the S.U?
Every day, there will be spiritual time with catholic prayers and ecumenical exchange time.

The location

  1. Where does it take place?

  2. The Summer University is located in Saint Malo, in Ille-et-Villaine, in the lands of Keriadenn which belongs to the diocese of Rennes.

  5. Where to sleep?

  6. Tents for 2 people will be available once you are in Keriadenn. You can form a duo when you are registering online. You can also form your duo once you’re in Keriadenn. You have to specify during the registration process if you can sleep in a tent or not, due to medical reasons. If not, you will be given a room in another accommodation.

  7. How to get to Keriadenn?

  8. Transportation by shuttles will be taken care of by our team from different cities. You can find the departure city on the registration form. Return trip is covered by our team.

Practical information

  1. Do I have to pay to participate?

  2. Entry costs 50 euros. But you can participate up to the amount you can afford. You can find all the details on the registration form.

  3. Do I have to bring my meals?

  4. All meal is provided on site. During the registration process, you can precise if you have a special diet (no pork, vegetarian, gluten free).

  5. Accessibility of the site

  6. The site is accessible for disabled person. We can arrange accommodation for people with specific needs.

  7. What do I have to take with me?

    • 1 sleeping bag
    • 1 floor mat
    • towels
    • warm clothes (nights are quite cold)
    • light clothes (days can be hot)
    • clothes for the rain
    • 1 flashlight
